Full article publishing soon. Mirissa's whale-watching season runs roughly November to April. We use only operators with marine-biologist guides and vessels that follow distance regulations.

In season, sightings are the norm rather than the exception, but no honest operator quotes a percentage. The shelf edge sits close to shore here, which is the whole advantage.
Typically three to five hours from a first-light departure out of Mirissa harbour, back by early afternoon.
Mornings in season are usually gentle swell. If you are prone to seasickness, take the tablet an hour before boarding, not on the boat.
